Recorded forms of Colonic Hydrotherapy were known and used as far back as the third century (see the Essene Gospel), and even 1500 BC, but methods have improved since those days!

But why should wise persons even so long ago have seen the advantages of using colonic cleansing methods instead of simply relying on the normal cycle of feeding and expelling in the way that animals regularly excrete? Perhaps it is because unlike the animals we do not eat our greens but use cooked and prepared materials more often than not to assuage our hunger and more and more of that prepared food contains additives and junk that our bodies were not designed to cope with. Nowdays, whatever we eat, it is almost impossible to obtain a 'pure' diet in the Western world (despite the recommendations in 'the Essene Gospel') due to pesticides and additives and having the dustbin cleaned is good for
everyone.

You may have seen the programme or read the book `You are what you eat' in which Dr. Gillian McKeith insists upon getting the results of colonic hydrotherapy in order to better analyse the condition of her patient's health and habits. Of all the different therapies available to her, this is the one that she finds most reveals the changes that need to be made.

The colon is the body's dustbin and if bins are not emptied regularly and well, they become somewhat unpleasant! Although you might think your particular bin is cleared satisfactorily you may be surprised to learn that it is by no means uncommon to carry around as much as 30 Ibs of old faecal matter trapped inside you. And not everyone is at all satisfied with their ability to `go regularly' and they are then very able to feel the effects of the muck that hovers inside them.

An unclean colon can lead to a great variety of `unwellness' caused by the toxins that accumulate and affect the whole body. Lethargy, depression, allergies, acne and poor skin, psoriasis, chronic constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, colitis and migraines are a few of the conditions that can be dramatically improved by the removal of the rubbish that has collected over time in the corners of the colon.

Research has shown that even the harshest laxatives prescribed as a preliminary to various hospital procedures are not able to fully cleanse the colon, despite the great discomfort they can generate. Enemas are not able to affect more than about the lower twelve inches of the colon which is five and a half feet long. On the other hand, colonic hydrotherapy reaches the entire length, gently and effectively, cleansing the whole colon and leaving the client with a feeling of good health and vitality and with a colon that has been reminded how to function better for itself in future.

For the greatest care of my clients, I use only disposable equipment for individual use, with well-filtered water that is gravity-fed into the body for comfort and ease. I also try to advise a better regime for future health, using knowledge I have gained over the very many years of practise with this particular therapy. The majority of clients, having experienced a first treatment, are keen to return for `maintenance' every three or six months.
